What We Didn't Need For Traveling with a Toddler- Air Travel + The Beach
Hi Everyone! This week's blog is a little bit about traveling with a toddler. It was our first air travel and trip overall that was not visiting family with our daughter. I'm so glad that we did it but it's defiantly not for the faint of heart, haha. Packing was actually one of the easier parts looking back on everything, but because it was our first "real trip" with a child I completely overpacked. Here is a quick run down of what we did not need for her during out trip to Florida (a quick beach getaway).
A ton of clothes- So hear me out on this one. I know one of the golden rules when going anywhere with a toddler is to always bring extra clothes, but because we went on a beach trip doing wet laundry was inevitable. I ended up washing clothes that all of us wore previous days, therefor we did not use a lot of what we brought. Me or her could have ditched a few outfits and saved some space.
Extra swim diapers- I completely over packed in this department. She ended up being scared of the ocean and not using very many. I know this won't be the case for everyone but I think having one per day is plenty.
Inflatable bath tub- Since we couldn't bring the bath tub that we use at home I figured a cute inflatable one would work. Even though we introduced the new tub before leaving she still was not happy about it. I just ended up showering with her.
Toys- We did not pack a ton of toys and she really did not care about the few that we brought. She was more intrigued by objects like water bottles, straws, cups, and the activities that we engaged in while there.
A variety of hand + face wipes/sanitizer wipes- Again, a department that I over packed in. I brought hand and face wipes, sanitizer wipes, bottle wipes etc. which actually piled up and got pretty heavy to tote around. Diaper wipes (we use water wipes) was what we ended up using for just about everything. They're also great for everyone.
Sippy cup- Sippy cups are actually quite bulky! It turned out giving her water through a straw worked perfectly fine.
I hope that you our experience is helpful to you. I also shared a few photos below from our trip. Have a great week!

She looks so beautiful in her little kaftan! This is a great post and something a bit different. You always read a "things to pack" post but never a "things to NOT pack" post. I'm not a parent but I can imagine this post will come in super handy for those that are and planning trips to the beach!

Hi Jenny! Thanks so much for reading and giving me feedback from someone who is not a parent! I appreciate that.
DeleteI love the photos at the end! I can definitely see how parents would really benefit from reading this post. It can be hard knowing what to bring for your child while your holiday. It's nice to be able to refer to this list so you know your not bringing more than necessary.
ReplyDeleteHi Annie! Thanks for checking out my post. I'm glad that you saw it as a good point of reference for travel. Take care! Candace
